Once upon a time a girl lived in a beautiful heaven. It was peaceful, serene and she was free to live her life as per her wish. one day some monsters attacked the place and to save herself, she hid in a dark cave that provided her with a shelter. Being dark and not much appealing, no one ever ventured nearby her cave. She remained there for a few months, initially scared and gradually getting conditioned to stay in the dark. She was very upset with the turn of the events and kept blaming everything, from her destiny to the situation.

One day, a monk came at door steps asking for alms. She got petrified as in months she had not gone to anyone and no one had ever come there. She had never interacted with any human for a long time. He called her again but she refused to come out. She told him that it was very unsafe and she would not come for anything as she did not trust anyone anymore. He offered her to come out and see the world outside which had changed since she had got trapped. He told her that she could get rid of all her problems with one step forward towards the light of the day. She had to walk a few steps and reach out to a tree that eliminated all kinds of problems for everyone. Only ritual she was required to do was to go to the tree and take ten rounds around it while praying and believing in her prayer. He told her about many people like her who had got trapped in the darkness but now they lived a new life that was happy and peaceful. She realised that sometimes she heard some voices outside but she was so scared that instead of listening carefully and understanding, she would run deep inside the cave so that she could not hear anything.

She pondered for some time, but then told him that she was not interested in going to any tree. If the change had to happen, it would take place without her being required to go to the tree. Also, the tree had never approached her or never offered any help when she was trapped in the darkness. Why would she go out to ask for help? If the tree wanted to help her it could help from its place. Saying this, she walked back into her dark cave cursing her destiny again. The monk gave up knowing that the girl was not ready to accept the change and bring it in her life so he decided to go to some other needy person and he walked away from her cave.

Often, we get stuck in our problems so much that we fail to notice the opportunity knocking at our doors. We are so engrossed in our pain and self-pity that we deny a new lease of life to ourself and keep pampering our wounds instead of trying to heal them. Sometimes one step taken forward can get us miles ahead in life. We few people rarely get such opportunity and one must take it to bring in the desired change in our life; we must choose to choose wisely, without any prejudices.

Trust and Faith

There is always a very sweet yet thin line that demarcates these two, trust and faith. I feel trust is when we believe in something’s reliability and genuineness while also applying our logic to verify it. We are consciously verifying the facts while we do trust it....
