Our Journey

by | Feb 8, 2024

Though we have never loved anyone else
like the way we love each other,
We have loved…
and also lost the people we loved.
We have both known the loss
like the sharp edges of a knife.
and felt the way it hurts.

While we both lived
with some scars and the wounds deep,
Sealed away with the our smiles,
so that the world can never know them or see.

Our love came unexpectedly,
quietly like the Moon
that hides and emerges
through the clouds of darkness.

Our love came,
when we had learnt to live alone,
given up on dependency
on anyone or anything else.
I think that had to be a part
of the miracle of our love .
This had to happen for us to heal
and to follow the light
holding each other’s hand tight.

On the path where we started walking together
Looking at each other,
starting with a formal relation,
You lent your hand
so that I would never fall.
And I held it back
so that you would never get lost.

A time came when we did distance
but we came back with a deeper connection.
Until we discovered,
the eternal promise of our love,
Like someone finds the flower
Dried between the pages of the book,
Like a sign of a moment cherished.

Then began the journey,
Of a poet and poetry.
And all the words in the dictionary
were put to use trying to describe
the way it felt
to have…Finally… finally…Found us!
As when I found you
I could also find the real me.

And now we are no longer afraid of our past.
I know sometimes it still gets difficult,
to overcome the bitter memories that last.
When you are my strength and I am your hope,
We can face it all and with it let’s cope.

Sometimes,
it becomes hard to see you sad,
otherwise always perfect,
Some days I understand,
you may feel bad.

But please know:
whether it is the days
when you burn more brilliant
than the hundreds of suns
or the nights
when you are scattered like the stars
with thousands of questions,
You are the most beautiful thing
I have ever seen.
I will love you
when you are a bright sunny day.
And I will love you
when you are like a hurricane
on its way.
